Shoes

Dr Marten’s Leona Platform Heel Combat Boot – ladies’ 7. I found these to be much more comfortable than 1460s and did not require a break-in period, but I usually find shoes with 0.5-1″ heels more comfortable than totally flat ones. These are CHUNKY, so if you aren’t used to wearing heavy boots they’ll probably feel weird at first. Great balance of comfort and edgy style. I have this in black and “bone”, the latter of which is a discontinued color. A similar boot available as of August 2021 is the Seychelles “Irresistible” boot in off-white leather (Nordstrom, Zappos). This one has a lug sole, but not much of a platform, so more of the height comes from the heel and you won’t get as much contrast from the front. It’s a more slim/feminine for a combat boot and has some hook eyelets at the top. I haven’t tried these, but in my experience Seychelles is generally a solid brand.

Trotter’s Lizzie Derby Flat – Cognac leather, 7.5 wide. These run narrow, and you probably want to go up one category in width. These are great for adding texture and when you want a balance between the femininity of ballet flats and the masculine look of a derby or oxford shoe. Sometimes listed as Lizzie Oxford.

New Balance Classics WL574v2 – White, 8M. A chunky and super comfortable retro style sneaker.

Birkenstock Arizona (Birkibuc) – Mocha, EU38 / US7-7.5 women’s. A classic! I have average width feet and I wear these on the narrowest buckle setting, so best for average to wide feet.

The ol’ Dr Martens 1460 smooth combat boots – US Ladies’ 7. Yes, you will have to break these in.

Halogen Kali Pointy Toe Flat, 7.5 – A witchy suede flat from Nordstrom circa 2017.

MIA “Madeline” t-strap clog, 8M – Nordstrom also carries similar styles from the same brand. I find these quite comfortable to stand in, but due to the nature of the high platform, not something I’d wear if I thought I was going to need to run or climb tons of stairs. Great to add a 70s flair or height without a glam vibe to an outfit.

Teva Terra Fi 5 in “sun and moon insignia”, womens’ size 8 – Hiking sandals with all three straps adjustable with velcro, and straps are padded. These have excellent traction and are very comfortable for walking, although when your feet start sweating they will make a squeaking noise.

Intentionally Blank “West” Leather Bootie – Cloud, 8M. These have a really fun Western Victorian vibe and works easily with jeans or dressy looks. The leather is gorgeous and soft and is more of a dress boot texture than a utilitarian boot texture.

Comfortiva “Cordia” Lace-up Boot – Caffe, 7.5M. These are comfortable on, but the leather is thin and the sole is not super supportive so make no mistake that they’re a fashion boot. The slim profile is great for adding a vintage-inspired utilitarian element to girlier outfits. If I were to buy these again I’d get them in a wide size because I can only wear these with thin socks.

Free People x Jeffrey Campbell Joe Lace-Up Over-the-Knee Boot – 8. I have these in older colorways (a taupe suede and the distressed black leather in the cover photo) but I think FP comes out with new ones each year. Runs a bit narrow – I have maybe slightly wider than average calves and I wear these at most only with thin leggings.

Converse Chuck Taylor 70 High Top Sneaker – Parchment, women’s 7.5 medium. I wouldn’t exactly call them comfort shoes, but they’re more comfortable and (supposedly) sturdier alternative to the standard Converse high tops.

Jewelry and Pins

Woods of Wonder (Etsy) barn owl necklace – This shop makes the cutest little woodland creature necklace! The packaging is very cute too, great for gifting. I’m a fan of clay or ceramic charms for jewelry for a more earthy feel.

Etah Love “The Hermit” sterling silver pendant necklace (gifted) – A necklace for the spooky-cute, witchy, storybook side of things. I love how detailed it is and that the pendant is slightly aged looking. The chain it comes with is a shiny silver. The charm is flat on the back side. This was gifted, but I felt like the brand’s products were actually a great match for me re: price/quality range and aesthetic that I would have happily paid for this myself. As a bonus, the jewelry comes in a nice box that is great for gifting or to reuse for drawer organization.

Frog Witch Enamel Pin (Etsy) – This is a mass produced pin which you can get from AliExpress. I got mine at a slight markup from a random etsy shop so the shipping would be a bit faster. If you buy from Etsy, search ‘frog witch enamel pin’ and compare the price including shipping vs the ship time on the active listings you find and get the one that has the balance you want.

Another one from Woods of Wonder (Etsy) – A more subtle silhouette of bat for that year-round spooky-cute style.

Etah Love “Snakebite” gold vermeil necklace (gifted) – Another whimsical slightly spooky nature necklace. I so love the more realistic shaping on the snake’s head. One of my pet peeves is snake jewelry where the snake reads as a tadpole or a worm.

Target Halloween chokers – a set of wonderfully tacky seasonal chokers. I found these to fit on the smaller end of “one size” necklaces.

Bags

Madewell Oversized Shopper Bag – (also available in brown) A leather shoulder bag. Slouchy, no visible hardware, magnetic snap closure. Nice for dressing up a more casual look, or just in winter if a canvas bag feels too summery and I don’t want something structured. Note that one side has visible stitching from the inner pocket.

Baggu Drawstring Backpack – OS. I have an older model (linked) which is no longer available new in the full color range. You can find it in more colors on Poshmark and eBay. The newer style has slightly different dimensions but a similar look. I can fit a 15″ Macbook pro into this with room for a sweater and other stuff, but I got this during quarantine so it’s not commute-tested. I’ve had hit and miss comments on the longevity of this from other people who’ve had it for a few years, but if you can get it on sale and like the style, it’s worth a look! (I will try to post a better photo of it on me at some point.)

Madewell Transport Zip-top Crossbody in English Saddle – An easy to wear leather bag. Minimal enough to go with casual outfits, but nice enough to work with dressier ones. Mine has started to get a little flaky at the corners after ~5 years (I’ve been procrastinating on finding a conditioner for it) but has generally held up very well.

Wicker Darling Triceratops Purse – The MOST ridiculous and extravagant bag! But perfect for me because of my side business selling plush pet triceratops on Etsy πŸ‘€. A splurge item, as a smaller operation they’re on top of their production chain, and the quality and design is fabulous. At the moment, they do pre-order and limited release model, so this particular style is unavailable. But perhaps there will be more dinos in the future πŸ¦–

Anthropologie Dreia Envelope Crossbody – A structured faux leather purse. I like that this faux leather is pebbled, so it doesn’t look plasticky. The texture is nice for a ~monochrome visual interest~ moment.

Katha Diddel vintage needlepoint frog purse via eBay – Can’t look at this bag and not smile! 🐸

H&M Round Straw Bag – Turns any outfit into a summery ~look~. I got this a long time ago, but there is a current similar design at Target.

Cromwell Home Native Plants of Hawaii Tote Bag (via Madewell) – a relatively structured canvas tote bag with a block print botanical design. Sold out on Madewell but it looks like there are similar bags on the Cromwell Home website.

Betsey Johnson “Daisy’d and Confused” crossbody bag – an older design I got from Poshmark. Super cute for spring and summer! The strap is detachable if you want to replace it with a leather strap, and it comfortably fits a modern smartphone.

Baggu Strawberrry Bag – foldable nylon tote bag. I have this in the regular and the baby baggu sizes cause it’s so stinking cute! Good quality, I’ve been using it to carry packages to the post office and it seems to take that pretty well.

Columbia Popo Pack, OS – I’m a few years late to the game but I LOVE having a belt bag / bum bag / fanny pack / hip bag. I use it pretty much whenever I’m going out on a walk. I love that this one is nylon, and has enough pockets for organization but not so many you’ll lose things in the pockets! I would not recommend this for smaller folks if you want to wear it was a belt bag rather than a sling bag across the chest, as I have to wear it on the smallest belt setting as a belt bag.

Unknown brand (handmade?) needlepoint/tapestry shoulder bag with bird and rabbit via Poshmark – One of my favorite secondhand pieces! I’m a sucker for anything whimsical-woodland themed and the detailing on these was so cute. I love needlepoint but a lot of them have a stuffier or more old fashioned construction and I liked that this one was soft.

Free People “Carmen Chain Clutch” in “rose dust” (also in black) – I love this particular shape of bucket bag, where there’s a little extra fabric above the drawstring and it cinches relatively close. It reminds me of magical sorcerer bags! I like this option in a pebbled faux leather as it elevates it to a more I-am-a-functional-adult everyday purse vs a fabric one which unless it’s made of a very nice material, can feel a bit like a cheap costume accessory. The pleather quality seems pretty sturdy, it is pliant but feels substantial. I can’t comment on longevity yet. The inside is lined and there is a small pocket which is handy for keys. I have no trouble fitting an iPhone 13 pro, a key lanyard, and my wallet into this. The strap seems a bit short on the spectrum of crossbody bags but for my height I don’t have a problem with it. Note it’s not a true drawstring bag, the top is a sort of elastic cinch and there is a magnetic snap you can use to make it more secure. As the name indicates it does come with a removable chain, but I mostly leave it off.

Hats

“Joanna” straw hat – honey/black, medium. A classic summer hat!

Pixiebell (Etsy) knit witchy beanie – a chunky knit beanie for a more wearable witchy option than a full on pointy wide brim felt hat.

Target Universal Thread Patchwork Bucket Hat – Cotton bucket hat, adjustable with interior drawstring. I find this (like most bucket hats I’ve tried from fashion brands) slightly on the smaller side.

San Diego Hat Company Oval Crown Raffia Hat (alternatively, paper straw variation at Nordstrom) – This hat has you covered for all your summer witch looks.

Embroidered Monarch Butterfly Baseball Hat – OS. I’ve linked to the Bryce Canyon National Park online gift shop, but you can find this in more colors on Etsy (I assume everyone is using the same free/cheap machine embroidery pattern). I got the OG burnt orange one from a local garden supply store.

Accessories

Anthropologie braided headband – Most of my headbands are from Anthro. They’re on the pricier side, but I’ve found the quality pretty consistent e.g. the actual band is covered with a matching fabric.

Free People Bow Scrunchie – I have a couple of these in various sizes, mostly in velvet. The giant ones like pictured are specifically “velvet bow droopy scrunchie” in case that one comes back.

Madewell cotton bandanas and Target Universal Thread cotton bandanas – I use these as hair scarves. Lots of beautiful patterns, wash cold + line dry just fine. I’d wait for a sale on the Madewell ones.

Solmate Adult Crew Socks – OS, I have these in a couple of colors. These recycled fiber cotton blend socks are great house socks or to add a little color to the bottom part of an outfit.

Target A New Day Two-tone Satin Wrapped Headband – a fun take on the plush headband category. I love how festive this one is, and the pink is a good chameleon color where depending on the outfit it can read more neutral or more pink/purple.

World Market Natural Embroidered Apron With Lace Trim – OS. This one’s not exactly an outfit item, but it’ll make any outfit more ~storybook~ when you’re cooking or doing dishes! It’s a bit longer than I’d like on me, but hey, more coverage.
